• Each coin is a legal tender Dollar coin struck at the U.S. Mint.
• Each coin is issued in a limited edition of only about three months before production starts on the next coin.
• John Quincy Adams was the first President whose father – John Adams – previously served as President.
• In the 1824 Presidential election, Adams came second to Andrew Jackson. However, Jackson failed to win a majority of the electoral votes, and the U.S. House of Representatives selected Adams as the winner of the election.
• The coin is in Brilliant Uncirculated condition and is richly layered in pure 24 karat gold.
• The gold layering is done privately, as the U.S. Mint does not have the capacity to layer coins.
• Just a tiny fraction of all Presidential Dollars will be layered in gold for this collection.
• In addition to the coin, the set includes a historic U.S. stamp.
• Date of Issue: December 7, 1963, to honor John James Audubon, whose first volume of Birds of America was first printed during Adams’ Presidency
• There is one coin and one stamp in the collection. The coin is composed of .770 copper, .070 manganese, and .040 nickel, then layered in pure 24 karat gold.
