• Each year, the U.S. Mint releases a special “Mint Set” of the year’s circulating coins.

• The Mint Set includes a complete set of all circulating coins issued at every mint.

• In 2005, the U.S. Mint made a radical change to the annual Mint Set.

• Instead of using regular Uncirculated coins, it created special coins exclusively for the Mint Sets.

• The coins have a special “Satin” finish, and they are available only in the Mint Set.

• No Satin finish coins are released into circulation or are made available individually.

• The 2005 Mint Set features the first-ever Satin finish coins issued as a set.

• Satin Finish coins look different from regular coins because the dies are sandblasted with a fine mixture of sand and glass beads.

• The 2005 Mint Set includes 22 coins (11 each from the Philadelphia and Denver Mints).

• Coins from each Mint are: Penny, 2 commemorative Nickels, Dime, 5 State Quarters, Kennedy Half Dollar, and Sacagawea Golden Dollar.

• The Philadelphia Mint coins are packaged separately from the Denver Mint coins.

• Commemorative Nickels are the Buffalo and Ocean coins in the Lewis & Clark series.

• State Quarters are California, Minnesota, Oregon, Kansas, and West Virginia.

• No 2005 Kennedy Half Dollars or Sacagawea Golden Dollar were released into circulation, so the Mint Set includes rarely-seen examples of the 2005 coins.

• The U.S. Mint Set is the official record of our nation’s coins.

• All coins are in original Uncirculated condition.

• They are specially packaged at the mint to preserve their high quality.
