Beginning in 2010, the United States Mint will issue 56 quarter-dollar coins featuring designs depicting national parks and other national sites as part of the United States Mint America the Beautiful Quarters Program.
The five quarters to be released in 2010 will honor Hot Springs National Park in Arkansas, Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming, Yosemite National Park in California, Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona and Mount Hood National Forest in Oregon.
Few people will ever have the chance to own the fabulous set of coins that are gold plated and enhanced with genuine holograms.
A very small number of original State Quarters have been set aside for this special edition. Each coin is plated in seven mils of pure 24 karat gold to give it a rich golden appearance. The gold plating is the highest quality in the world. These coins are not available from the U.S. Mint. They are genuine State Quarters that are struck by the U.S. Mint, but the Mint does not have the capacity to Gold Plate or hologram coins.
