On the night of April 14, 1912, the luxury liner Titanic struck an iceberg in the Atlantic Ocean while sailing from England to New York on her maiden voyage. She sank less than three hours later (the morning of April 15), despite the famous claim that she was “unsinkable.”
The Titanic is perhaps the most famous ship in history and 1912 is the 100th anniversary of the Titanic.
• This collection features a 1912 Lincoln Penny and a 1912 Liberty Head Nickel – two coins that were struck the year the Titanic sank.
• The two coins are 100-year-old classics that are treasured in their own right; together, they make a beautiful and historic set.
• 1912 was just the fourth year the Lincoln Penny was struck (first issued in 1909).
• 1912 was the final year the Liberty Head Nickel was struck for circulation.
