On the night of April 14, 1912, the luxury liner Titanic struck an iceberg in the Atlantic Ocean while sailing from England to New York on her maiden voyage.  She sank less than three hours later (the morning of April 15), despite the famous claim that she was “unsinkable.”

The Titanic is perhaps the most famous ship in history and  1912 is the 100^th anniversary of the Titanic.
