Red & Green Seal $2 Bills

E-mail this product to a friend

Until the Series of 1963, the $2 United States Note was issued along with other types of U.S. currency.   United States Notes are very distinctive, because they were issued with red Treasury seals and serial numbers.  The note features a portrait of Thomas Jefferson on the front and a view of Jefferson’s home, Monticello, on the back.

The $2 United States Note was last made in the series of 1963 and has been out of issue for nearly 50 years.  This note is accompanied by a $2 Federal Reserve Note with a green seal and green serial numbers.  Together, the two $2 bills make a fascinating and seldom-seen collection.

The $2 Federal Reserve Note is America’s first and only commemorative bank note design. It was originally issued as part of the 1976 bicentennial celebration for the 200th anniversary of the Declaration of IndependenceIn addition to Jefferson on the front, it depicts the painting “The Signing of the Declaration of Independence” by John Trumbull on the back.
Comes in a display wallet with a Certificate of Authenticity.
