Different Design Same Year Pennies, Nickels, and Dimes

E-mail this product to a friend

On rare occasions, the U.S. Mint ends one coin denomination design in the same year that its replacement design is introduced. This collection includes three such instances; it features both the last of the old design and the first of the new design, with both coins bearing the same date.

• The first is the last Indian Head Penny struck in 1909 and the first Lincoln Penny also struck in 1909.  These coins were made over 100 years ago.

• Next is the last Buffalo Nickel from 1938 and the first Jefferson Nickel from the same year.

• The set is completed with the last Barber Silver Dime from 1916 and the first Mercury Silver Dime that was made in the same year.  Both coins were struck in 90% silver and are almost 100 years old.

• All coins are long out of issue and are seldom seen alone, yet you get them in three spectacular pairs!
