1963 Silver Proof Set - Great for 60th Birthdays!

This is the official Proof Set, as issued by the U.S. Mint in 1963.  It has been unavailable from the U.S. Mint since 1963 and is increasingly hard to find.

Proofs are the highest quality coins, and a Proof Set is a limited edition collection of the year’s coins.

The 1963 Proof Set includes all coins from the Penny through the Half Dollar.

The set includes the .900 silver Franklin Half Dollar, Washington Quarter, and Roosevelt Dime.  The Franklin Half Dollar was the last-ever coin in this series.

The coins were struck at the Philadelphia Mint but have no mint mark.

All coins are in original Proof quality and are still in the original U.S. Mint protective packaging.

In 1963, sales of Proof Sets dropped from the 1962 high of 3,218,019 Sets to just slightly over 3,000,000. Demand for the 1963 sets was slow in the first half of the year, but picked up dramatically in the second half of the year. Unfortunately, in order to meet the demand, the Mint shut down orders on October 1, freezing out some last-minute buyers. 1963 was the last year for the Franklin Half Dollar design, although no one knew that at the time. Had they known, the mintage for the year might have been even higher.
