2018 MS67/PR69 Inaugural American Innovation Coins

In 2018, the United States Mint introduced the new American Innovation Dollars series, a multi-year series honoring innovation and innovators with $1 coins from each State, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, U.S. Virgin Islands, and Northern Mariana Islands.  Each is a golden Dollar coin. 4 coins will be issued each year, so the minting schedule for each coin is limited to only about three months.  Each coin is being made in Brilliant Uncirculated condition at the Philadelphia and Denver Mints, and in Proof quality at the San Francisco Mint.

These coins have been graded and certified by ANACS and the coins offered here have been independently graded and certified as nearly perfect Mint State 67 (abbreviated MS67) Proof 69 (abbreviated PR69) condition.

The reverse design features George Washington’s signature and the inscriptions “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and “AMERICAN INNOVATORS.” The stylized gears represent industry and innovation. The design also includes the inscription “SIGNED FIRST PATENT” under Washington’s signature.

The obverse design features a dramatic representation of the Status of Liberty in profile under the inscriptions “IN GOD WE TRUST” and “$1.”

The year of minting, the mint mark, and the inscription “E PLURIBUS UNUM” are incused on the edge of the coin.
