This is a collection of the four different types of Kennedy Half Dollars issued for circulation.
Two are silver and two are one-year-only issues.
The first Kennedy Half Dollar was minted in 1964 as a tribute to President John F. Kennedy, who was assassinated on November 22, 1963.
1964 was the only Kennedy Half Dollar minted for circulation in .900 silver.
Due to the rising cost of silver, the composition was changed to .400 silver from 1965 to 1970. This is the first and only .400 silver coin ever made for circulation.
Starting in 1971, the Kennedy Half Dollar was struck for the first time in copper-nickel.
The 1976 coin was a one-time-only commemorative for the bicentennial of the Declaration of Independence.
