In 2019, the U.S. Mint introduced the American Innovation Dollars series with the first four coins honoring innovations and inventions from four different states. The coins are being issued at the rate of four per year; the order of issue is the order in which the states joined the Union, so the first four coins are for Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Georgia. This collection features all four of these historic first American Innovation Dollars in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The coins are the same size and the same golden alloy as the Sacagawea and Presidential Dollars. The preliminary topics for the first coins are astronomer Annie Jump Cannon (Delaware) who was from Delaware and who invented a new way to classify the stars, the polio vaccine (Pennsylvania) which was discovered by Dr. Jonas Salk in at the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania, inventor Thomas Edison (New Jersey) whose workshop was in New Jersey, and Georgia pioneer James Oglethorpe’s agricultural experimental garden (Georgia). The unique design is the reverse of the coin and is issued for only about 13 weeks; the obverse is a common design showing the Statue of Liberty.
