When banknotes are printed by the U.S. Department of the Treasury, they are produced in sheets that are then cut into individual notes.  Most people have never seen America’s paper currency in its “original” format of uncut sheets.

This sheet of four $1 Federal Reserve Notes is an unusual collector’s item that is both fascinating and historic.

The sheet contains four $1 Federal Reserve Notes.  These are identical to the notes in circulation, and each one is official legal tender of the United States.  Together, they create an amazing $4 bill!

The front shows a portrait of George Washington based on a painting by Gilbert Stuart from 1796, while Washington was still serving as first President.  The back features both sides of the Great Seal of the United States.

The uncut sheet is in Crisp Uncirculated condition, so it is in the same pristine condition as the day it was printed by the Department of the Treasury.

Interestingly, the serial numbers are not in sequence.  That is because sheets are stacked on top of each other before cutting into individual notes, so the serial numbers go in sequence from top to bottom in a stack.

Makes a great gift!
