America's Forgotten Dollars 1

In 1971, the U.S. Mint brought back a circulating Dollar coin of the first time since 1935. The obverse of this coin features Dwight D. Eisenhower, the World War II hero and President of the United States from 1953-1961. The reverse is an adaptation of the official Apollo 11 mission patch showing an American eagle landing on the moon (to symbolize the “Eagle” Lunar Module which brought the first men to the moon in 1969). The eagle carries an olive branch of peace, and the Earth can be seen above its head.  The Eisenhower Dollar was replaced in 1979 with the first-ever small Dollar coin, the legendary Anthony Dollar. This was also the first circulating coin to feature an identifiable woman. It honors Susan B. Anthony (1820-1906), the woman’s rights pioneer whose work led to the 19th Amendment to the Constitution that assures women the right to vote. The reverse design is the same as the Eisenhower Dollar.  This collection features an Eisenhower Dollar and the Anthony Dollar. These are among the most sought-after modern U.S. coins. These rarely-seen Dollar coins are truly America's Forgotten Dollars.
