This collection features five classic U.S. coins that were issued by the U.S. Mint but which have not been seen in circulation in over 50 years – and one that was last made over a century ago. The coins are widely sought-after for their timeless designs and compelling stories.
These coins are seldom seen today. Each is a historic collector’s item, and together they make a collection that brings back memories of days gone by.
Most coins were worn out or damaged in circulation generations ago, leaving few for today’s collectors.
Owning just one of these coins is a collector’s dream, but to own all five coins of in a single collection like this is a rare accomplishment.
The Indian Head Penny depicts Liberty wearing a Native American headdress, and it was last made in 1909.
The Lincoln Penny was first minted in 1909 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s birth. The first coins from 1909-1958 feature the legendary Wheatback design.
During World War II, the U.S. Mint made Lincoln Pennies in steel in 1943 to save copper for the war effort; it is the only steel coin in U.S. history.
The Buffalo Nickel was a symbol of the “Wild West” and is one of America’s favorite coins. The obverse is a composite portrait of three Native American chiefs, while the reverse features a stunning image of a buffalo.
In World War II, nickel was essential for war supplies, so the Nickel was made with 35% silver. This is the only time in history the U.S. Mint has made a Silver Nickel.
The collection is presented in a custom coin wallet with narrative about the coins.
